Transfer News: Paulo Dybala aware of interest from Tottenham Hotspur amidst huge wage demands
Speaking to Sky Italia via CalcioNapoli1926 (h/t The Express) Italian journalist Giancarlo Padovan believes that Juventus ace Paulo Dybala knows about the interest from clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur. His current wage demands of around £8.4million a year could prove to be a stumbling block for any club that would like to secure his services.
Despite his performances blowing hot and cold over the course of the last few seasons at the Allianz Stadium, the 28-year-old forward has largely been an integral part of the attacking department with the Bianconeri. Apart from Arsenal and Spurs, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also in the race to sign the former Palermo man.
The Argentine attacker has bagged 13 goals and six assists in 29 matches across all competitions for the Turin-based club in this campaign so far. Dybala is majorly deployed as the second striker but can also be used as an attacking midfielder, a winger, or as a centre-forward should the need arise.
In conversation with Sky Italia via CalcioNapoli1926 (h/t Express), Padovan reiterated the fact that Dybala knows about the interest from Spurs and the other clubs. He also highlights that it is unlikely that the Argentinian will get the current wage packet that he is demanding.
“He is a proud player, not depressed. He knows that besides Juventus there are many important teams, he knows that he can go to Atletico or stay in Italy, at Inter. In England, there are Arsenal or Tottenham: in short, he will not remain unemployed. I don’t think he will earn the 10 million euros a year he is asking for, but he wants to prove that Juve was wrong not to confirm him.”
Should we go for Dybala?
The North Londoners were close to securing his services back in 2019 but the deal fell through due to an issue with the image rights of the player. It now seems that the Lilwyhites could be in the market for the Argentine attacker once again.
At 28, Dybala could potentially be headed in the prime years of his professional career. His versatility could be a great option for Antonio Conte who saw more outgoings as opposed to incomings in the January transfer window.
Spurs finally seem to be coming back on track and we can see the kind of attacking and intense brand of footballing that has become synonymous with the Italian manager over the years. The addition of an exciting attacker like Paulo Dybala could help us get to the next level both in Europe and England.
That being said, a lot of things need to go in our favour should we be able to pull this off, and his salary expectations could be a big blow for us. No doubt this transfer sounds like a dream signing at the moment but it wouldn’t be worth it if such a move put an unnecessary amount of stress on our finances in the long term.

Whilst it is believed that the Argentina international has an idea about the interest from Tottenham Hotspur, whether or not he makes his way to the club from N-17 is a question that can only be answered in the future.
Hopefully, interest from other clubs such as Spurs isn’t being used as leverage to get him a better deal in Turin. Signing a player like Dybala would mean significantly strengthening a number of positions in our attacking third and hopefully, even if it looks tough now, we see him wearing our famous white shirt next season.
