Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Tottenham Hotspur have become more complete under Antonio Conte
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has expressed his belief that Tottenham Hotspur are today a more complete team under Antonio Conte. They are on the back of an impressive 5-1 victory against Newcastle United, which was sweetened even further after taking over the fourth spot in the Premier League table.
Hojbjerg was once again sensational in their recent win, which prompted Conte to hail his “fantastic” performance. While Tottenham did have some issues to solve in the first half, their final 45 minutes against Newcastle was one of their best displays of this season. The team seems to be coming together at this point, and the midfielder has given his thoughts on the matter.
Speaking in an interview with the club’s media which was featured in Spurs’ recent newsletter (h/t Football.London), the Danish midfielder mentioned that all the work they have done is coming together right now. He has added that the team is more complete as enough time has passed for them to adapt to the Italian boss’ tactics, his understanding of the game and the personal connection made with the manager.
Can Spurs maintain this current form?
“Antonio is a special coach, with a special way of doing things, with a very high level of performing. There is always a time of adaptation, a time of understanding the sports side and also the personal side, and everything is coming together well.”
The 26-year-old star has also conveyed that the North London side have evolved to a point where they can play at the top level regularly. He added that they need to keep it together and focus their attention on what lies ahead to keep improving for a better future.
“It’s important now to go with the flow and see how far we can take it because the team is evolving very positively. That creates a platform where we can perform at a really very high level.”
The squad has certainly improved quite a lot, especially in the past two months, which has helped us to be in contention to finish in the top four places in the league table. Even when we were going through a rough path due to inconsistent form, there were signs of improvements compared to how the team was before this year.

We now are firmly in contention to achieve Champions League qualification for the next campaign. We are currently holding fourth place in the league table with 54 points from 30 matches. Arsenal are in fifth right now, even if they have a game in hand from the same number of points.
Even if the Gunners have a match in hand, the North London Derby is yet to take place, which means that a win could firmly turn things around in our favour. That would ensure that we can salvage our current term by having a great end to this campaign.
That is down to how we have improved and how the players have arrived on the same page with time. We cannot stop here, though, if there are plans to challenge for titles, which means that they must keep developing at the earliest to have a better shot at winning trophies next term.
