Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur will send scouts to watch Fenerbahce centre-back Kim Min-jae

According to the Turkish outlet Fanatik (h/t ChronicleLive), Tottenham Hotspur will send their scouts to watch Fenerbahce centre-back Kim Min-jae in the Istanbul derby this weekend. He has earned quite a name for himself since his move to Turkey at the start of this season.

Tottenham have already been linked with a move to sign Min-jae in the future. Now it seems that they have taken their degree of interest to a higher level since they are set to scout him this weekend. The derby between Fenerbahce and bitter rivals Galatasaray will take place later today whether the English club would look to assess his profile.

They will not be alone, though, since Newcastle United have also expressed an intention to secure the South Korean’s services moving forward. That being said, Spurs could potentially have some kind of advantage because of Son Heung-Min, who is trying his best to convince his compatriot to join him at N17.

Spurs to sign Min-jae?

Min-jae has certainly done well in his first season at European football, and his performances indicate why he has already been linked with a move elsewhere. The defender has quickly become a regular for his side this term, and he even has a goal to his name from 37 appearances. He has helped his side to six clean sheets as well during this period.

We do need centre-backs in our ranks, considering how Joe Rodon and Davinson Sanchez have been cast aside by Antonio Conte. That could indicate that the boss has no role for both of them in his team. Hence, the club must find adequate replacements and move them out in the process as well.

Japhet Tanganga, who is currently out for the rest of the season, can also be upgraded if we want to uplift the quality of the team. Even Ben Davies, who has impressed as a left-sided centre-back, must eventually be replaced by a natural central defender.

The North London side must assess Min-jae to see whether he can be that man or not. With the match set to take place later today, it will be interesting to see further updates on the matter in the next few days.

Should the Asian defender impress, it would not be too much of a reach to say that we may have a slight edge in the transfer race due to Son’s presence. After all, he could influence his national team teammate to join us in the future if Min-jae is deemed a necessary signing following the scouting assessment.
