Norwich City enter race for Bristol City star Alex Scott amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest

According to Football League World (h/t NorfolkLive), Norwich City have entered the race for Bristol City star Alex Scott amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur for a potential transfer. The youngster has earned quite a name for himself in the Championship this season, which has seen him linked with a move to the Premier League.

Norwich are looking likely to drop down to the second division at the end of the current campaign. As such, they are planning ahead for the next term and have identified Scott as one of the targets to help with their fight in the Championship.

Tottenham have already expressed an interest in the U-19 England international, and the Canaries’ entry would be a blow for them as a result. Leeds United are in a similar boat to Spurs, as both of them have already been claimed to be in line to bid for the starlet this summer.

Transfer tussle for Scott?

The 18-year-old has featured in 36 Championship games this term, scoring four goals and assisting twice in the process. The teenage star has earned plaudits for his splendid creative displays, which simply cannot be portrayed through a goal involvement tally.

We could use a creative presence in our squad, looking at our inability to create chances in the last two games. This problem has affected us occasionally under Antonio Conte’s tenure, which is due to the lack of a proper creator in the midfield.

However, expecting the Robins ace to perform that role would be stupid and unrealistic as he needs time to get used to top-flight football. What’s more, he could use some more time in the second division, which would be best for his development at this stage.

That being said, we cannot sit idly and let this opportunity pass us by when it comes to signing one of the future superstars. As such, we must complete a transfer for Scott at the earliest to not get piped by Dean Smith’s side or Leeds in this transfer race.

Signing Scott and loaning him back to a Championship side would be best as he needs regular minutes to fulfil the potential he had shown moving forward. He would probably not enjoy that at N17, and adding him to our youth ranks would simply be limiting him as he has already experienced senior football.

It remains to be seen how this situation will turn out to be in the coming months ahead of the summer transfer window. It does not shock us in the slightest to see increased competition for the Championship sensation so let’s hope that Conte’s side realises the risk involved and completes this deal as soon as possible.
