Tottenham Hotspur dealt transfer blow as Wolfsburg ace Omar Marmoush makes Arsenal dream claim
According to German media outlet Bild (h/t The Sun), Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a transfer blow after Wolfsburg ace Omar Marmoush made a claim regarding his dream and Arsenal. He is currently out on loan at Stuttgart, where he has enjoyed quite a good spell until now.
Tottenham and the Gunners have already expressed an interest in signing Marmoush ahead of this summer. He is expected to leave his parent club at the end of this season, with his contract being in line to enter the final year after this term. The latest revelation from the forward himself could shine more light on a potential move.
Speaking in an interview with Bild (h/t The Sun), the Egyptian has revealed that his dream is to play in the Premier League in the future. However, what makes things worse for Spurs is how the attacker has issued a come and get me plea to Mikel Arteta’s side and Liverpool as well.
“Sure, I still have a year’s contract in Wolfsburg and I’m going back there in the summer. But who knows what will happen in the future? My dream is the Premier League. I don’t have a favourite club, but I watch Arsenal and Liverpool a lot. In Wolfsburg, I didn’t get a chance to show myself for a longer period of time. Now I’m at VfB, and I’m determined to stay in the league.”
Do Spurs still have a chance?
While the 23-year-old did say that he does not have any favourite PL club, his claim regarding our North London rivals and the Reds does not help us at all. It remains to be seen if the Reds take note of the player’s comments and enter the transfer race along with the Lilywhites and the Gunners- although there is no indication that they would consider that possibility.
Despite his words, we could still have a chance to sign the African, considering he claims to dream of playing in the PL. After all, there are other factors as well that decide a player’s preference for joining a football club.
The Wolfsburg loanee could be a useful asset for our squad, considering how versatile he is in the attacking areas. He also possesses the ability to play as a lone striker or even a secondary attacker to another centre-forward. He can also play at his best on both sides of the wing, indicating how he can contribute to any team.

Take, for instance, Spurs’ position in the PL table and how they are in a direct battle with Arsenal for fourth spot. The Gunners are 2 points ahead of the Lilywhites in fourth, with just 5 games left in the PL season. UCL is arguably the most prestigious club competition, and the chance to play in it is one that, more often than not, appeals to players.
That being said, the Lilywhites would be smart to get this deal across the line because it would not only mean strengthening their own team, but preventing one of our direct rivals from signing a talented young attacker.
