Tottenham Hotspur target Lautaro Martinez has his mind set on Inter Milan stay, says agent
Tottenham Hotspur target Lautaro Martinez has his mind set on staying at Inter Milan at this moment, according to his agent Alejandro Camano. This news will be a blow for the English club if there are active plans to bring the striker to N17 at the end of the current campaign.
Martinez has once again been in fine form this season, having led Inter in their pursuit to retain the Scudetto. He has also spearheaded the attack for Argentina alongside Lionel Messi and has played a major part in their revival. According to The Times (h/t The Mirror), Tottenham are also joined by Arsenal, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United in the race for the centre-forward.
Speaking in the program Como Te Va Benedetto of Radio Colonia de Argentina, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo (h/t The Mirror), Camano is adamant that his client is fully focused on becoming a champion with the Nerazzurri right now. The agent added that Martinez is focused on playing for Inter and Argentina right now, and the attacker is happy with life at this instant.
“Today the only thing we want is to be champion at Inter, and then God will say. He’s comfortable, he’s fine. But we don’t get involved in what the clubs want to do, we know what Lautaro wants to do, which is to become champion with Inter and have a good World Cup, that’s the only thing Lauti has in mind, God will tell the rest”.
Blow for Spurs?
Martinez has been in hot form this term, having scored 21 goals alongside providing three assists from 45 matches across all competitions. That makes him one of the best strikers in world football at this moment, and potentially losing out on him would be a damning blow for us.
Then again, signing a superstar centre-forward may not be a priority for our fans since we have Harry Kane in our ranks. What we actually require is an attacking option that can provide backup to the Englishman while being a dependable choice for Antonio Conte when needed.
But one could argue that Conte may have paired him with Kane up front if Spurs were to sign him in the near future. After all, the Italian managed him at Inter Milan last season and his strike partnership with Romelu Lukaku was a big reason behind their Scudetto win.
However, this latest revelation from his agent would dampen our chances of signing Martinez. Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn have deputised up front while Son Heung-min can also play as a centre-forward if it is necessary.

Then again, the club would also have to be sure about Harry Kane’s commitment to the cause. The Englishman was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City last summer. The Cityzens are on their way to winning another Premier League title this season while Kane has yet to win any silverware at Spurs in his entire senior career.
