Transfer News: Antonio Conte wants Tottenham Hotspur to target Wilfried Singo
According to the Italian news outlet Tuttosport [Print Edition] (h/t Football.London), Antonio Conte has expressed his desire for Tottenham Hotspur to target Torino star Wilfried Singo in a potential transfer. The defender has been one of the best performers for his side this season and has cemented himself as one of the best young talents in Serie A right now.
Singo has emerged to become one of the best attacking full-backs in Italy following his impressive displays for Torino. His performances have been at such a high level that Conte himself has been left impressed by the youngster. As such, the boss “insists” that Tottenham should bring him to N17 ahead of this summer.
That being said, it is still unknown whether the Italian side or the player himself would entertain a move elsewhere after this term. Spurs could use a right wing-back in their ranks, but whether that will be the Ivorian or not would only be known in due time.
Will Spurs get Conte what he wants?
The right wing-back position has been an area that has often troubled us throughout this season. The likes of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty were disappointing even under the Italian manager’s early tenure with us. Doherty did turn things around and has arguably been our best wing-back before the season-ending injury halted his progress.
The same cannot be said for Emerson, as he has often struggled to impact in the final third of the pitch. His decision making and final ball delivery have often been questionable, which seriously raised questions about his future at the North London club.
The Brazilian has shown some improvements in recent weeks, with his displays against Liverpool and Arsenal being some of his best while donning the Tottenham shirt. However, that may not be enough to convince Conte, which seems to be the case with the coach looking at Singo right now.
Singo would perfectly complement Doherty in our ranks, which could potentially suggest that Emerson may have to make room if we actively target the Torino star. Since Conte is keen on getting his hands on the talented African defender, that is a possibility that could potentially unravel this summer.

Since we are looking to build a project under Conte, he must be provided with the right tools that he needs to bring success to the club. If he believes Singo would become one of the key components of his system, Fabio Paratici must do his best to bring the full-back to North London.
Now, we have to wait and see whether the club would pay heed to the former Inter Milan man’s demands and add the Ivory Coast defender to their squad moving forward.
