Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur could target Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka this summer

According to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur could target Eintracht Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka for a potential move in the summer transfer window. He has been immense for his side this season and is widely considered as one of the best young defenders in Bundesliga over the course of the current season.

Antonio Conte is keen to sign a left-sided centre-half to bolster Tottenham’s defence ahead of the next campaign. Ben Davies has done quite well in a makeshift role, but he is expected to be replaced as Conte looks to build a title-contending side at N17. That being said, Davies is still considered to be a reliable option, and a new signing would not be guaranteed a starting role.

Spurs could turn their attention to Ndicka as Fabio Paratici looks to back the man in charge by bringing in the desired targets. The Bundesliga star is also joined by Inter Milan duo Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni in the list of potential centre-back options.

Ndicka, a great prospect indeed!

Ndicka has truly cemented his starting spot at Frankfurt this term, having made 43 appearances across all competitions. He has four goals and assists each to his name during that period, with his team finishing 11th in the league.

Not to mention, the Frenchman has been splendid in their backline, leading them to the Europa League final so far, beating the likes of Barcelona and West Ham United along the way. It is no wonder why the North Londoners could potentially target him looking at how he has fared well this campaign.

However, Conte’s side would be wise to remain on their toes at all times if they want to sign the 22-year-old this summer. That is because Sport Bild (h/t The Sun) claimed earlier this week that Manchester United and Newcastle United are also interested in signing the defender.

Despite that problem, Tottenham would be delighted to know that the Frankfurt ace is in line to enter the final year of his contract this summer. Furthermore, it is also claimed that he could be available for a meagre fee of £17million, which is a steal looking at his performances.

Then again, it remains to be seen if Spurs would target Ndicka at all, with other options being on the shortlist as well. The fans would hope that the final choice would be between the French defender or Bastoni, as De Vrij does not have many years left in his playing career.

Moreover, Ndicka could also be a massive opportunity, considering how he is available for a reasonable price at the end of this season. Whether Conte and the club would assess this chance the same way or not remains to be seen.

We can use a centre-back, after all, with Ben Davies having to play as a left-sided centre-back a lot under Antonio Conte. With Toby Alderweireld’s departure last summer and the usage of three centre-backs in his system, Conte could do with good depth in this area.
