Several Spurs players have already secured a spot at Qatar’s table for next winter following the most recent series of international games. The Tottenham players who might participate in the Qatar World Cup in 2022 are listed below.
Hugo Lloris (France):
The current World Cup holders were no longer guaranteed a spot to defend their title and were forced to qualify through the groups. Lloris continues to be their first-choice goalkeeper and he played a major role in helping them top their group in an unbeaten campaign.
Cristian Romero and Giovani Lo Celso (Argentina):
Lionel Messi-led Argentina qualified for the World Cup having not lost a game after finishing second in the table behind Brazil. Romero and Lo Celso have played a key role under Lionel Scaloni’s team and are expected to be regular starters in Qatar.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Denmark):
Hojbjerg and co blitzed through their respective group after winning nine of the possible ten world cup qualifiers games. The midfielder is a regular for his side and has formed a formidable partnership with former Spurs ace Christian Eriksen to help them qualify for the WC.
Son Heung-Min (South Korea):
Son’s current form would be a massive boost for his side and their hopes of enjoying a successful WC. That being said, their 1-0 loss to UAE in the final game of the qualifiers dealt a blow as Iran leapfrogged them to the top spot.
Harry Kane (England):
Kane is expected to lead the frontline as he chases Wayne Rooney’s record for the top scorer in his country. As for England, they finished comfortably above Poland with a six-point gap in second place.
Joe Rodon and Ben Davies (Wales):
Wales made the WC berth after beating Ukraine in the play-off final through Gareth Bale’s deflected winner. While Rodon has a peripheral role at N17, he remains a key player for his national side. Davies continues to perform at the top level and is expected to travel to Qatar.
Steven Bergwijn (Netherlands):
Louis van Gaal’s side had to leave it late as they required a 2-0 victory over Norway in their final game to ensure the top spot in the qualifying table. Despite the lack of minutes in London, Bergwijn continues to be a top player for his side and will play a major role in their WC challenge.
Rodrigo Bentancur (Uruguay):
It seemed at one point that Uruguay may miss out on the WC this year but a splendid run of form in 2022 saw them turn things around to finish third in their group. Bentancur’s form for Tottenham has surely granted him a spot in the national team.
Cameron Carter-Vickers (USA):
Carter-Vickers has enjoyed an excellent time on loan at Celtic, providing him with a key role in his national team. That being said, his side just made it to the WC finishing third behind Canada and Mexico.
Ivan Perisic (Croatia):
Perisic’s excellent season with Inter Milan has surely made him one of the contenders for a spot in the WC squad. Croatia had finished in first place just ahead of Russia in their group with a one-point lead. They would look to replicate their run from the 2018 WC in Qatar. Betway currently have Croatia priced at 66/1 to win this year’s World Cup.
Emerson Royal (Brazil):
Emerson’s form for Brazil seems to have finally seeped into his form at Tottenham as he ended the season with a strong string of displays. Tite’s side were comfortably the table toppers in South American qualifiers with a six-point gap over second-place Argentina.
