Wolves in transfer tussle with Fulham to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Joe Rodon

According to transfer journalist Ekrem Konur on Twitter (h/t NottinghamshireLive), Wolves are currently rivalling Fulham for the services of Tottenham Hotspur star Joe Rodon in the summer transfer window. He has struggled to break into Antonio Conte’s plans, which has cast doubts over his future ahead of the next season.

Rodon has been linked with an exit from Tottenham as a result, with several Premier League clubs vying to sign him this summer. Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Cottagers are two of the interested parties as they look to improve the quality of their defence with his addition.

They are not alone, though, as Nottingham Forest have already expressed their interest in the Welsh international. With central defence being one of the priorities, Forest are looking to place themselves into the pole position using Steve Cooper’s prior connection with Rodon during their time together at Swansea City.

Spurs to raise decent funds with Rodon?

Rodon, who has been dubbed “exceptional” by his national team boss Robert Page, could be seeing the end of his time at N17 after all. It is quite puzzling how his time with us has turned out to be when the centre-back hardly put a foot wrong for us, even with the few minutes he garnered under his belt.

Perhaps Rodon may not suit Conte’s style of play which could potentially be the reason why the manager opted against using him regularly. It is also claimed that the central defender has set his eyes on leaving Spurs this summer in search of consistent game time, with the 2022 Qatar World Cup being on the horizon.

In such a case, finalising a departure would be in the best interests of all the parties involved looking at the current circumstances. However, we have to wait and see whether there would be any solid bids from the interested parties for completing a move for Rodon.

The North London club had spent £11million in guaranteed cash to bring Rodon from Swansea back in 2020. It remains to be seen if we can recoup that amount, especially when he has played a bit-part role in our team for quite a long time.

Then again, the 24-year-old’s performances for Wales should give us enough incentives to demand a reasonable asking price. Furthermore, the increased attention from the Wanderers and Marco Silva’s side would certainly help with our case, with the Reds also being in the mix.

Conte has plans to bring in two new centre-halves this summer, so there is no reason to keep hold of Rodon any longer. Let’s hope that a solution that benefits all the parties will be found, as the defender’s sale could boost our transfer budget, which can be used to meet our needs in this window.
