Louis Saha: Tottenham Hotspur should retain an interest in signing Anthony Gordon

Speaking to Bonus Code Bets (h/t football.london), former Tottenham Hotspur striker Louis Saha said that his club should not give up hope of signing Anthony Gordon from Everton.

It was reported earlier that Tottenham were interested in signing both Richarlison and Gordon from Everton. But they could only manage to sign Richarlison, at least for the time being.

Now former striker Louis Saha has asked his club to not give up hopes of singing the young England U-21 international. He believes it would be a great move for Gordon to join his former team-mate at Spurs.

Tottenham’s concentration in games is a lot better since Antonio Conte’s come in. It would be a great move for Anthony Gordon with Richarlison because it’s a joy to see them play when they click up front.

Gordon played a pivotal role in helping Everton avoid relegation last season. The 21-year-old made 35 league appearances, scoring four goals and assisting two more in the process.

A future transfer interest

Antonio Conte has been revamping his squad this summer with already having signed Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, and Fraser Forster and has now added Richarlison to his ranks. The Italian has been very active in the market, as he assembles a squad hoping to win some silverware with the Lilywhites next season.

Spurs were ruthless on the attack last season. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min formed a formidable partnership last season, with Dejan Kulusevski also joining the duo at times. To this, he has added Perisic and Richarlison this season and has Bryan Gil return from his loan spell.

It is clear that Spurs are not lacking attackers in their team. Signing Gordon would thus make very less sense, though he would be an excellent signing. The 21-year-old would have potentially very less game time and this could hamper his growth and form. At Everton, he could become their next star and also amass more experience and growth in his game.

This would also allow Spurs to continue their monitoring of the player and see if he can perform consistently at the top level of the game. If they are convinced by his performance, maybe they could plan to make a move for him.

More Tottenham Hotspur News

Given the current squad at Tottenham, it would make very less sense should they make a move for Gordon this summer. Conte will know this and it looks very less likely that they will, considering they have already signed two attackers this summer.

However given the young man’s performance last season, it looks less likely that he will not be able to perform. He could be one to watch out for in the future and Spurs will hope that when he plans to move, he moves to Tottenham.
