Gray Lineker has praised the way Tottenham Hotspur have operated this transfer window

Former Spurs icon Gary Lineker took to Twitter to praise the way Tottenham Hotspur have operated this transfer window as the North London club are close to signing Clement Lenglet on loan, as per The Express.

With Spurs close to signing the French centre-back from the Englishman’s other former club in Catalunya, Lineker was impressed by Tottenham’s business so far and so early in the window. He believes Antonio Conte getting his way in the window was a good thing.

The 61-year-old represented Spurs and Barcelona in his illustrious playing career. The recent talk of Lenglet signing on a season-long loan from the Blaugrana, it will make the centre-back the fifth big signing to the squad following the arrivals of Fraser Forster, Ivan Persisic, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison.

The first transfer window under the Italian manager in January seemed a bit rushed. Conte didn’t get any signings until the deadline day double deal from Juventus for Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.

The Swedish and Uruguayan duo have since been important players for the Lilywhites. They’ve contributed with goals and assists and hit the ground running. Fabio Paratici and our Italian manager picked the right players in January to push the team over the line and secure a top-four finish.

This summer window has been different

During the summer, the business has been concluded in a fast and efficient manager and the board have backed the manager in his suggestions. While there are no guarantees, considering how the two previous signings under the Italian fared, there’s hope amongst fans regarding the new signings.

Tottenham now not only have a competitive side but one that has a squad to challenge for titles. The strength in depth is essential, with important players in every position throughout the pitch.

Fans will hope the new signings can hit the ground running in the same way. With the shadow of the 14-year trophy drought hanging over the club’s head, next season will be exciting with a proven manager who’s won several trophies in the dugout.
