Ian Wright admits to being jealous of Tottenham Hotspur’s summer transfers

Ian Wright, speaking on Wrighty’s House via HITC (h/t football.london), spoke about the transfer window so far and praised what Tottenham Hotspur have done, claiming “you can’t not be jealous of that summer”. The Arsenal legend feels the North London rivals are going to be a problem next season.

“I feel Tottenham are going to cause problems.”

“You can’t not be jealous of that summer, especially coming from the other side of north London. They are frightening man.”

The Gunners have made a few signings as well this summer but Wright mentions the names Spurs fans can throw around, like Yves Bissouma, Richarlison, Harry Kane, Rodrigo Bentancur and Cristian Romero, among others.

Conte is a proven manager in the Premier League and Spurs have backed him this summer.

“When you look at how Tottenham can flex when they are doing it under this manager, it kind of makes me feel [explicit].”

Tottenham’s transfer business has been nothing short of fast and efficient this summer. It feels like the North London side made plans and executed them in an instant. Antonio Conte has been backed by the board up until now and with another Italian Fabio Paratici pulling the strings, new additions have been made quickly.

The window started off with the arrival of Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic on free transfers. The former will provide adequate backup to Hugo Lloris following the departure of Pierluigi Gollini while the latter will fit in well in Conte’s 3-5-2 system.

With the signing of the former Inter Milan star, the squad can boast the pedigree of the Croatian, who has won titles in Germany and Italy. Perisic has played in the best sides around Europe.

Bissouma has impressed in his time in the Premier League with Brighton. The Malian has established himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the league and is set to compete against the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Bentancur for minutes on the pitch.

Richarlison arrived from Everton for big money and Tottenham fans will finally feel the team has an adequate backup for Kane. For years the English striker has led the line without having any suitable support from the bench in the centre-forward position.

Dejan Kulusevski also arrived under Conte in the January transfer window and has been a brilliant inclusion. Romero looks like a promising defender and showed encouraging signs when he was fit last season. And more signings seem likely before the end of the transfer window.

The North London side certainly looks like they’re up for a challenge and the crowd inside the N17 will hope to see a trophy being lifted next season.
