Club News: Tottenham Hotspur are expected to add set-piece expert Gianni Vio to their coaching staff
Continuing their summer spree, Tottenham Hotspur are expected to confirm the appointment of set-piece expert Gianni Vio to Antonio Conte’s coaching staff.
Additionally, Spurs managing director of football Fabio Paratici has also had a shuffle in his support team with Gretar Steinsson appointed as performance director, Andy Scoulding as assistant performance director and Simon Davies being appointed as the head of methodology.
Vio is considered one of the best set-piece experts in the world, having previously worked with the Italian national team and all had spells at AC Milan, Leeds United, Brentford and Fiorentina. Considering that Spurs have struggled with set-pieces in recent times, he would make a phenomenal addition to the staffroom.
New times at Spurs?
It is no secret that chairman Daniel Levy has been reluctant to spend big money during the transfer windows over the years. Previous coaches like Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho have all tried to make the argument with him but failed. That does not seem to be the case with Conte.
After a long time, Spurs fans are really happy about their club’s recruitment in the window and have no problems with the chairman. Conte has made five phenomenal signings and there are expectations he may make more. Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison are some of the fantastic signings he made this summer, adding depth and quality to the squad.
The addition of new faces in the backroom staff also means Conte is hoping to stay for some time at Tottenham and is bringing in quality coaches to help him bring out the best in the team. It seems Conte is not only building a squad for the next season but for many seasons to come.
Seeing such new faces at Tottenham, both players and backroom staff with a manager like Conte at the helm, the fans are really expecting things to happen next season.

It is understandable why. With so much quality in the team, one would naturally expect the team to win something next season.
With a new set-piece coach, hopefully we see more threat from our attacking threat pieces and are more solid when defending them.
