Frank Lampard admits that Tottenham Hotspur target Anthony Gordon is going nowhere

Frank Lampard has said that Tottenham Hotspur target Anthony Gordon is “going nowhere” as Everton look to build the team around the 21-year-old.

According to the Evening Standard, the Toffees boss has Gordon in his plans. The young Scouser played a big part in the Goodison side’s relegation battle. As a result, the 21-year-old has been handed the number 10 shirt for next season.

“You’ve have got to work to get the No.10 shirt and Anthony has earned it.”

Gordon was one of the main protagonists for Everton last season. With a lot of important players out injured, the youngster stepped in and became a crowd favourite at Goodison Park.

It was the 21-year-old’s breakout season and he featured in 40 games for his boyhood club. Starting 25 Premier League games, Gordon chipped in with important goals and assists that eventually made a telling difference.

With interest from Spurs and Newcastle United, Everton are trying their best to fend off any potential suitors. The Toffees have now made the young Englishman their talisman. Lampard is looking forward to having Gordon on his side.

“He gives everything and is going nowhere. He is our player and we want to build with him.”

Tottenham tried to lure the 21-year-old after successfully prying away Richarlison from Everton’s hands. The young prospect is seen as someone with a bright future ahead.

The Goodison side already lost one of their best players to the North London side. The prospect of letting go of another star, especially a homegrown talent, would’ve been difficult for the Toffees faithful to digest.

And it’s not like Tottenham need to reinforce the forward line any more than we already have. The squad already bolstered big names. Recent additions in January and this summer have ensured that Antonio Conte has adequate options.

Fans would’ve felt the only real reason the club wanted to sign Gordon this transfer window was because of his potential. Getting into our attack at the moment is a difficult task for even the most experienced players.
