Mikael Silvestre: Tottenham Hotspur will pip Arsenal to the fourth spot next season

Speaking to LordPing (h/t football.london), feels Tottenham Hotspur are better equipped to finish once again in the top-four next season ahead of Arsenal.

The former Gooner, who made a name for himself playing for Manchester United, thinks the Lilywhites will once again come out on top in the North London rivalry and deny the Gunners a Champions League berth.

Silvestre picked his top-four and interestingly had the same teams in the same order as the previous campaign. He believes at the end of the season, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs will once again stake a claim to their respective positions from 2021/22.

“For me the final top four will be the same as last season.”

“So, Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.”

Tottenham beat Arsenal to the top four last season in dramatic fashion. The North London derby in the concluding stages of the season was a key figure. Spurs got the win and gained the upper hand in the race for the fourth spot.

Expectations beyond top-four

Now, the summer window has seen the North London side act like a top side looking to challenge for titles should. We’ve made important signings in all departments and strengthened the squad.

Antonio Conte has been given the tools to take Tottenham to the next level. The Italian has the pedigree and track record to make something special happen at the N17. And Silvestre concurs with that opinion.

Antonio Conte has the reputation of winning titles wherever he goes.

“Spurs have signed some good players and Conte is a winning machine wherever he goes. Spurs certainly have the upper hand over Arsenal, we have to be realistic.

Spurs already boast two of the best forwards in the league. Harry Kane will hopefully once again spearhead the attack. Son Heung-min took his game to the next level last season, and if all goes well, the South Korean can maybe keep up his form.

The new signings made have increased the depth in our squad. We’ve been crying out for a backup to Kane for years now and Richarlison looks promising. The club has also been active in adding quality players in the defence and midfield.

For next season, fans’ expectations are going to be sky-high. Not just the top four, there is a belief amongst the Lilywhites crowd of challenging for major silverware. It remains to be seen what Conte conjures up with the squad at his disposal.
