Southampton to sign Tottenham Hotspur starlets Samuel Amo-Ameyaw and Jayden Meghoma

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Southampton are set to sign Tottenham Hotspur academy starlets Samuel Amo-Ameyaw and Jayden Meghoma.

A combined €1million in transfer fees is said to be enough to get the two deals across the line. The two English teenagers are still very young and hence, haven’t made any appearances for the senior side or in Premier League 2.

Amo-Ameyaw is a 16-year-old left-winger who has featured a few times in the U18 Premier League for Spurs. Meghoma, meanwhile, is a year younger and plays down the same flank, albeit as a left-back.

For the youngsters, this could mean more playing time. However, it is safe to say that they would have to go through the development teams in order to break into the senior squad.

While it can’t be said for certain, players of their age find it understandably tough to get any sort of action for the senior side. Nevertheless, this is a move that Spurs could live to regret down the years.

If either of them becomes a quality player in the Premier League, then the fee we could be receiving for them now would look very little. Spurs fans would, of course, wish nothing but the best to the young duo.

The two clubs are not alien to doing transfer business with each other. Spurs have signed players such as Victor Wanyama and Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg from St Mary’s Stadium over the years.
