Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal discuss Lo Celso, Estupinan and Ndombele in latest meeting

According to Xavi Jorquera Marquez on Twitter (h/t Football.London), Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal discussed a potential transfer for Giovani Lo Celso in their latest meeting.

Tanguy Ndombele and Pervis Estupinan’s names were also discussed between the two teams. It is said that the Yellow Submarines left the meeting ‘very happy’, which indicates that the talks turned out to be fruitful.

It is clear that the two Spurs players mentioned above aren’t in Antonio Conte’s plans. They were left out of the club’s weekend trip to Israel as they continue to sort out their future before the end of the current window.

Spurs signed Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion this summer after Rodrigo Bentancur’s arrival from Juventus in January. These two signings showed that Conte wasn’t best pleased with the options that he inherited in midfield.

What should Tottenham do?

Ndombele has failed to impress Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and now Conte during his time at N17. It is best that Spurs try and offload him permanently to try and cut their losses on the French midfield.

26-year-old Lo Celso is an impressive midfielder who continues to be picked by Lionel Scaloni for Argentina. Perhaps the former Real Betis man doesn’t fit Conte’s vision at the club.

It is important for the Lilywhites to maintain depth in midfield. We will be competing in the UEFA Champions League along with two domestic cup competitions in the upcoming season.

The same players cannot be playing every single game over the course of the campaign and it is important to keep quality on the bench. And that is why the club must carefully monitor how many midfielders they sell during the current window.

More Tottenham News:

As for Estupinan, the 24-year-old Ecuadorian defender is adept at playing down the left-hand side of the backline. Ivan Perisic was signed on a free transfer this summer, but the Villarreal defender could be a smart long-term cover in that position.
