Transfer News: Brighton have failed to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon
According to the Guardian, Brighton & Hove Albion have already failed to sign Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur.
This seems to be holding up Chelsea’s potential pursuit of Spanish full-back Marc Cucurella. Graham Potter’s side is apparently to sell the 24-year-old if they manage to bolster their defence this summer.
The south coast side has also failed to bring in Zaidu Sanusi from FC Porto. Reguilon’s future at Spurs looks highly bleak and the defender is heavily linked with an exit this summer.
Clubs like Barcelona and Sevilla have shown interest in the former Real Madrid left-back. However, Reguilon continues to be a Spurs player with the new season beginning in a few days’ time.
Reguilon, 25, hasn’t done a lot wrong since he joined the club from Los Blancos in the summer of 2020. However, it seems that Antonio Conte wants something different for his side.
The Italian manager was quick to sign Ivan Perisic on a free transfer this summer and the Croatian international could become a regular in our starting XI from this season.
The two previously worked together at Inter Milan. Ryan Sessegnon would also be waiting for his chance to impress in the upcoming campaign, with the five substitution rule coming as a possible boost to him.
This also means that Conte would have to keep a strong side throughout the course of the Premier League season if they want to challenge for the league title.
