Tottenham open talks for Udinese left-back Destiny Udogie
Spurs have been linked with a move for the teenage starlet in the past but it never materialised. It looks like things are set to change with the Lilywhites set to open talks with the Italian club.
Udogie joined Udinese from Hellas Verona at the beginning of the season and has really impressed during his time with the Serie A club. Already a regular starter at just 19 years old, the Italian is looking like a solid talent.
The teenage sensation played 37 times for the Serie A club last season scoring five goals and providing three assists across all competitions. These numbers are exceptional for a player who is just 19.
An attack-minded left-back, Udogie is also capable of playing a more advanced role as a left-midfielder and could play a role as the left wing-back in Antonio Conte’s system if he comes to N17.
Spurs actually have a couple of solid options to play in the left wing-back position but it is not surprising that Conte wants to make more reinforcements. Adding a new full-back would be good for the Lilywhites.
Sergio Reguilon does not feature in Conte’s plans next season and the Spaniard is expected to leave N17 this summer. Spurs have already signed Ivan Perisic as an option to play in that role next season.
Ryan Sessegnon is expected to also be a part of Conte’s plans next season but both players are also capable of playing in other positions. Udogie seems to make sense from a future perspective but he is also an option for the present.
