Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur ‘confident’ of signing Destiny Udogie in ‘coming days’

According to Alasdair Gold of Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur are ‘confident’ of completing a transfer move for Udinese starlet Destiny Udogie in the coming days.

The Italy U21 international has seemingly made a big impression on Spurs and could be our seventh signing of the summer. Antonio Conte has already signed Ivan Perisic and Djed Spence as players who can play as wing-backs.

It seems Udogie could be another name that is added to that list. However, Spurs are expected to agree on loaning the Italian back to Udinese for the current season if they do reach an agreement.

The deal could cost the club £22million including add-ons in transfer fees. The Italian manager already admitted that Spence was a signing that the club wanted to make, not him.

What next for Udogie and Spurs?

Hopefully, this is a full-back that has been personally approved of by Conte. We would not want to hand him players that he doesn’t really think he can use.

Nevertheless, this is a situation that the club would probably have to deal with next summer. It would be hard to get Udogie to get minutes here right now, anyway.

Ryan Sessegnon did a superb job against Southampton yesterday in our 4-1 win where he opened the scoring with a header. Ivan Perisic has been Conte’s trusted soldier ever since their days at Inter Milan.

Ben Davies, meanwhile, is also capable of playing in that position while Sergio Reguilon is still on our books. Udogie could still be a smart option to have for the future.

More Tottenham News:

So far, he has played in a combined 41 Serie A games for Hellas Verona and his current team, Udinese, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
