Steph Curry sends message to Eric Dier after Tottenham Hotspur goal vs Southampton

NBA superstar Stephen Curry sent a reply to the Tottenham Hotspur Twitter account after Eric Dier scored against Southampton on Saturday, August 6.

The Lilywhites played against the Saints in their opening game of the new PL season and came away with an impressive 4-1 victory. However, Spurs weren’t in control throughout the game.

They trailed Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side after James Ward-Prowse’s stunning volleyed goal in the 12th minute. Ryan Sessegnon equalised with a header shortly after and Eric Dier put us into the lead around the half-hour mark.

Son Heung-min’s cross found the Englishman’s head inside the box. The touch from Dier did not deviate the ball a lot from its original direction, but it was enough to delay Gavin Bazunu’s reaction.

Great day at the office for Eric Dier

Curry, who has four NBA rings and was the NBA Finals MVP in 2022, replied to Spurs’ tweet about Dier’s goal. His comment seemed like he was referring to Dier’s posture in the image posted.

Spurs’ account replied by saying that Dier was now the ‘Third Splash Brother’. The Splash Brothers, of course, is a moniker for Curry and his Golden State Warriors teammate Klay Thompson.

Dier probably can’t hit a three-pointer like the two of them but he did put in a superb performance to help Spurs grab all three points on the day. Despite Clement Lenglet on loan, Dier has seemingly retained his place in Conte’s starting XI.

Curry has past links with Spurs, when he was presented with a Tottenham shirt by club legend Ledley King at Wembley in September 2018.
