Udinese drop Destiny Udogie vs AC Milan to complete Tottenham Hotspur move
According to Fabrizio Romano, Destiny Udogie was left out of Udinese’s Serie A opener against AC Milan with a view to completing his transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.
The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Spurs recently and is supposedly just days away from officially joining the Lilywhites. That is according to Romano, who says that the player will have his medical on Tuesday.
He will then be in England to sign a five-year contract at the club. He is widely expected to return to Udinese on loan for the current season – a situation we saw happen when Pape Matar Sarr played for FC Metz in the 2021/22 season despite signing for us last summer.
Adam Masina started at left-wing-back for the Italian side and made his presence felt. Udinese led the game after just two minutes following a goal from Rodrigo Becao, before I Rossoneri struck back with goals from Theo Fernandez and Ante Rebic.
Udogie to be our seventh signing soon
Masina scored four minutes into the first-half stoppage time but Milan were just too hot to handle in the second half. Brahim Diaz scored instantly after the resumption of play while Rebic’s second goal killed the game.
It’s anyone’s guess as to what would have transpired had Udogie played. Masina, however, did a good job in the Italy U21 international’s absence.
Antonio Conte would have been watching Udogie closely given our manager’s ties with Serie A. We have signed our fair share of players from Italy this year, with the likes of Ivan Perisic, Dejan Kulusevski, and Rodrigo Bentancur swapping Italy for England.

Spurs, meanwhile, have the task of facing Chelsea today at Stamford Bridge. It is likely that either Ryan Sessegnon or Perisic starts down the left flank – it could well be the former, as it would be harsh to drop him after his splendid attacking performance against Southampton last weekend.
