Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur target Ruslan Malinovskyi’s wife drops major transfer hint
Tottenham Hotspur are “strongly interested” in signing Atalanta midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi this summer, in a deal that could touch £17million, according to Italian publication CalcioMercato (h/t Evening Standard).
It seems that the Ukraine international is close to leaving his current club. His wife, Ruksana, has shared a major reason via Instagram behind why the 29-year-old could be on his way out of Atalanta this summer.
“Naturally, it’s very sad for us, but this is life in football. He has to think about his future as a professional football player. We are happy here. We were not ready to have to change our lives. The transfer window is coming to an end and now we are forced to seek other options. Seek… because there is a serious reason. You have to read between the lines.”
After claiming that the former KRC Genk midfielder has been forced to seek other options this summer, Ruksana added that the family could be on the move because “something went wrong”. That is as far as she went and did not provide further clarity on the situation.
“Ruslan was preparing for the new season and we moved into our new house, but something went wrong. You must only understand that none of us wanted to go anywhere else.”
While it is sad on a personal level that the Malinovskyi family is facing such uncertainty in their personal and professional lives, this could be a chance for Spurs to provide him with a fresh start outside of Italy.
Now 29, he still has a few years of football left in him. Time and again the versatile midfielder has shown that he is an asset for most clubs to have.
An adept passer of the ball, he also has the desire to push forward and help his team in attack. Malinovskyi has been majorly deployed as a number 6 and a number 10 at Atalanta but can also play down the middle in attack or just behind the striker.
The price being quoted above isn’t exorbitant as well and the player is also in the final year of his current contract. It remains to be seen if Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici push forward with this move.
