Chelsea could use Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Armando Broja to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Anthony Gordon

According to a Daily Mirror report in today’s newspaper (h/t the Express), Chelsea ‘may use’ Armando Broja and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in order to entice Everton into selling Tottenham Hotspur target Anthony Gordon.

If executed well, this would be a smart strategy on manager Thomas Tuchel’s part to get the edge over Spurs in this transfer race. According to Football.London, Tottenham have retained their interest in the 21-year-old winger.

There seems to be a lot of buzz around a youngster that not a lot of football fans knew about in detail this time last year. His breakout season under Frank Lampard seems to have won him a couple of admirers in London.

Broja seems surplus to requirements for now as Tuchel is clearly not in favour of starting despite an acute shortage of natural centre-forwards in his team.

Chelsea stealing the march

He has instead preferred to play Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling at times in that position. Loftus-Cheek has also been more of a bench player for the Blues.

He did play as a right-wing-back in their 3-0 defeat against Leeds United, but that was only because Reece James was playing out-of-position as a third centre-back.

The Toffees can use these two players to good effect if Lampard is on board with the idea. Selling Richarlison to us this summer has left a gaping hole in the Merseysiders’ attack as of now.

However, this would come as bad news for Spurs if they are genuinely interested in the English winger. We have a couple of unwanted players of our own in the form of Sergio Reguilon and Harry Winks and, in our opinion, it won’t be a bad idea to try and include them in deals that could get us our desired transfer targets – if there are any.
