Transfer News: Atletico Madrid are interested in Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon

According to the Daily Mail, Atletico Madrid are the latest side to show interest in Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon. Fulham and Lazio are also said to be interested in the left-back.

The 25-year-old is not part of Antonio Conte’s plans for this season. He is surplus to requirements and Spurs are looking to offload him in the coming days. Discussions are said to be progressing with the La Liga side and hopefully, we can reach an agreement soon.

It is also understood that the former Real Madrid player is open to moving back to Spain. The Spanish club is hoping to reach an agreement with the player and Spurs regarding a loan deal.

Reguilon joined the north London club in 2020. A regular in his early days, he has found it tough to find playing time under Antonio Conte. He did manage to make 25 league appearances last season, but an injury in May saw him sidelined.

Since then, he is yet to play for the team and Conte also did not include the Spaniard in his pre-season tour of South Korea. The 25-year-old could very well have played his last game for the North Londoners.

Ivan Perisic is the preferred option at left wing-back with Ryan Sessegnon giving him tough competition. It is clear that Reguilon is nowhere near Conte’s plan for this season, and it will be wise for him to move elsewhere.

He is not the only player who could leave. Tottenham are also hopeful to find a club for midfielder Harry Winks. The England international is said to have attracted interest from Serie A side Sampdoria.

More Tottenham News:

It remains to be seen where the player ends up this season. With less than a week remaining till the window slams shut, Spurs management will hope to get rid of the players. It could be very uneconomical to pay wages to such players and not play them.
