Tottenham Hotspur want to enter into contract talks with Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur want to enter into conversations with Harry Kane regarding a new contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 29-year-old striker has started the season off in impressive fashion, scoring four goals in four games. He was most recently seen in action against Nottingham Forest in our 2-0 win this weekend.

Kane scored both goals and ended up as the star player in that match despite having a penalty saved by Dean Henderson. Spurs are eager to extend Kane’s contract, ensuring that he spends the last of his best years at N17.

The 29-year-old came close to joining Manchester City last summer but ended up staying. Manager Antonio Conte led Spurs to a fourth-place finish, ensuring Champions League football this season.

The Italian manager has also given his thoughts on the situation. He said (h/t Fabrizio Romano):

“The desire of everybody into the club is for Kane to continue to stay with Tottenham, to sign a new contract.”

Kane has been the fulcrum of this Tottenham team’s attack ever since he made his breakthrough under manager Tim Sherwood. His current deal expires in the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt).

Spurs have done a lot to ensure that they are not ‘the Harry Kane team’ that they were accused of being by Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola in 2017. Son Heung-min has had a rapid rise to stardom during his stay at Spurs.

Dejan Kulusevski has also had a brilliant start to life at the club since his move from Juventus in January 2022. Richarlison’s move from Everton ensures that Conte has a plethora of options up front.

Kane, however, continues to be the main man and he will arguably remain so for at least the next few years.
