Rating the signings Tottenham Hotspur have made in the 2022/23 summer transfer window

Ivan Perisic – 9/10

Ivan Perisic signed for free for Tottenham Hotspur after his contract at Inter Milan expired at the end of the previous campaign. The Croatian has made the left-wing-back position his own in the last few games.

Ryan Sessegnon started the season in the position. However, Antonio Conte has decided to now stick with his former player with whom he had great success at Inter.

The 33-year-old mostly played as a forward, but the Italian manager converted him into a full-back for the Nerazzurri. They won the Scudetto together in the 2020/21 campaign.

Perisic has become our designated corner kick taker and has been brilliant at it. The 33-year-old has already registered a few assists from them.

Fraser Forster – 6/10

Forster arrived for free as well to Tottenham, becoming our second signing of the summer. With Pierluigi Gollini leaving the Spurs, we needed a backup goalkeeper to support Hugo Lloris.

Forster is a decent goalkeeper with vast experience in the Premier League. The 34-year-old has been a reliable shot-stopper for teams like Southampton and Celtic.

Yves Bissouma – 7/10

Yves Bissouma arrived at Tottenham from Brighton & Hove Albion for an initial fee of £25 million, which can potentially go up to £35 million with performance-related add-ons.

The 25-year-old was one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League in the last couple of seasons. The Malian hasn’t featured much for the side yet, coming on as a substitute mostly.

However, Bissouma has provided solidity in the middle of the park when Conte has decided to put him in the games.

Richarlison – 8/10

Richarlison was signed from Everton for £60 million. The Brazilian became a statement signing for Tottenham in the summer. The 25-year-old was one of the Goodison side’s best players before moving to Spurs.

The former Everton striker is known for being aggressive and energetic. And Richarlison has shown exactly that when Conte has called upon him. The Brazilian has made an impact whenever he’s been featured.

Richarlison’s signing has also finally added a decent backup centre-forward in the squad in case Harry Kane is unavailable.

Clement Lenglet – 6/10

Clement Lenglet has arrived at Tottenham on a season-long loan from Barcelona. The Frenchman is a left-footed centre-back, someone Conte had been longing for in the side.

Ben Davies played the majority of last season on the left in the back three. However, the Wales international star isn’t a natural centre-back. With Davies performing well at the start of the new season, Lenglet has barely got a look-in in Conte’s XI.

The 27-year-old is an experienced defender who played in the biggest competitions for the Blaugrana. The French national adds depth to the defensive positions. And with the long season ahead, it’s important to have options.

Djed Spence – 7/10

Djed Spence signed for Tottenham from Nottingham Forest. Spurs agreed to pay an initial fee of £12.5 million for the 22-year-old, with a further £7.5m in performance-related add-ons.

Spence was one of the best players in the Championship in the previous campaign. The right-back was on loan at Nottingham Forest for the 2021/22 season. The England U21 international helped the Tricky Trees get promoted to the Premier League.

Emerson Royal has started the new campaign in fine form. The Brazilian has played a key role for Conte at the start of the season. Spence hasn’t been given as many opportunities to shine yet.

However, the 22-year-old is a brilliant prospect for the future. Spence’s signing was a good piece of business in terms of the fee we paid as well, considering he was one of the most sought-after youngsters.

Destiny Udogie – 6/10

Tottenham have signed Destiny Udogie from Udinese for an initial fee of £15 million. The 19-year-old has stayed at the Serie A club on loan for the 2022/23 campaign.

Udogie is a highly rated prospect. The Italian had a breakout season for Udinese in the previous campaign. And Fabio Paratici and Conte have decided to trust that the 19-year-old will develop into a fine player.

For now, Spurs have Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon as options for the left-wing-back position.
