Leeds United do not want to sell Tottenham Hotspur target Daniel James on deadline day

Tottenham Hotspur will have a hard time convincing Leeds United to part ways with Daniel James as the West Yorkshire side do not want to sell the Wales international, according to The Mirror.

The Peacocks have lost some of their big stars this summer. Raphinha left for Barcelona while Kalvin Phillips joined Manchester City. The duo had been some of Leeds’ best players over the years.

Tottenham have made an offer to loan James from the Whites with a buy option included in the deal. However, any approach for the 24-year-old will be thwarted by Jesse Marsch’s side.

James joined Leeds last summer from Manchester United. The former Swansea star made an immediate impact in the Red Devils’ side. However, he lost his place in the team after a season.

In the previous campaign, James played more in the centre-forward position. The Peacocks had injury issues and the Welshman was played out of position.

James is a natural winger and the 24-year-old’s blistering pace is one of his strongest suits. For Leeds last season, the Wales international featured 35 times in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing five assists.

At the moment, Tottenham have one of the best attacking lines in the Premier League. The trio of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski have started the new season on the front foot.

Antonio Conte can also count on Richarlison. The Brazilian has come off the bench in the last few games and has made an immediate impact.

Considering the strength in depth up front, any new forward coming into the Spurs squad will have to contend with a lot of competition. It remains to be seen whether Tottenham do get a deal for James over the line.
