Antonio Conte defends Son Heung-Min amidst Tottenham goal drought
Speaking in an interview after Spurs’ 2-1 win against Fulham as quoted by Planet Sport, Antonio Conte has defended Spurs superstar Son Heung-Min amidst his goal drought and expects the South Korean to bounce back.
For someone who finished last season as the joint top-scorer in the Premier League, Son has really struggled to get going this campaign with the 30-year-old struggling to find the back of the net.
Spurs have had a great start to the season under Antonio Conte, unbeaten in the league and playing some really impressive football. However, the South Korean seems to be struggling a tad bit.
Son joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and has been nothing short of sensational for so many years. A case could in fact be made for the South Korean to have been the most underrated player in the Premier League.
Speaking about the player’s goal drought, Conte felt that this was just a phase and that Son will be out soon
“This is not only for Sonny (in the matches), but also the training sessions. We have Fraser (Forster) that sometimes he made a fantastic save to him in the training session and sometimes he is struggling to score but this is a period.”
Conte has admitted that he is not worried about the talented winger’s form but he will want the South Korean to get back to his very best as soon as possible as it augurs well for the team in the long run.
One of the most deadliest partnerships that the Premier League has ever seen, Son along with Harry Kane have been the driving forces at Spurs for many seasons now and still continue to be so.
