“He played in an amazing way”: Conte lauds new Spurs signing for performance against Fulham

Antonio Conte lauds Tottenham ace Richarlison for his performance vs Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte has lauded summer signing Richarlison for his performance against Fulham. The Brazilian played the full 90 minutes and set up the first goal as Spurs beat their London rivals 2-1.

Richarlison made his way to North London in the transfer window from Everton. The 25-year-old had already spent several years in the Premier League before arriving at Spurs.

Speaking to the media after the win in the London derby via The Daily Mail, Conte was of the opinion that Richarlison put in an impressive display. The Italian also laid out plans on how he intends to use the Brazilian.

“For me he played in an amazing way.

“Richy played well, with personality, with quality, also found difficult passes between the lines.

The game against Fulham was Richarlison’s first start for Tottenham. The Brazilian has come on for cameo appearances in previous fixtures. In the minutes he has been afforded, the 25-year-old has shown his quality.

Richarlison is a versatile forward. The former Evertonian has mainly operated as a centre-forward throughout his career. Conte opted to use the Brazilian on the right-wing against the Cottagers.

The Italian gaffer left out Dejan Kulusevski from the XI to make way for Richarlison. With a congested fixture list in the coming months, Conte is pleased to have the Brazilian in the ranks to call upon when needed.

“I am using him in three positions across the front line and he has worked to understand our idea of football quickly.

“With Richy in this way, I am more relaxed because when you play every three days sometimes you need to give a bit of rest. I decided to give a rest to Deki, who has been fantastic for us but we start the Champions League in three days.”

Tottenham’s front line is stacked at the moment. Harry Kane has gotten off to a blistering start this season. The England international equalled Thierry Henry’s record of 43 goals in Premier League London derbies with a goal against Fulham.

Son Heung-min is another star at Conte’s disposal. Even though the South Korean has not gotten off to the best of starts, the 30-year-old showed glimpses of his brilliance against the Cottagers.

Kulusevski and Richarlison have both started their Tottenham careers on the front foot. The Brazilian was denied his first Spurs goal against Fulham in the dying minutes as VAR ruled him offside.
