Tottenham Hotspur confirm new contract for Alfie Devine
Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed a new long-term contract for Alfie Devine on their official club website. The 18-year-old has signed a deal that expires in the summer of 2027.
Devine remains the club’s youngest-ever player and goalscorer when he scored against Marine in an FA Cup tie in January 2021. He is a regular for the development team and is yet to be loaned out to any team.
Surprisingly, that game against Marine is still his only senior appearance for the club to date. However, at his age, that number is expected to increase in the future.
The new contract can be seen as a big show of belief in the youngster’s ability by the club. Manager Antonio Conte is yet to hand the teenager any minutes.
Devine intervention
However, there is perhaps an outside chance of seeing gametime this season. Spurs have loaned out three midfielders this summer.
Giovani Lo Celso is at Villarreal, Tanguy Ndombele joined Napoli and Harry Winks is playing temporarily for Sampdoria. With the trio’s loan exits, Conte could use a young player like Devine, especially in cup games.
Spurs also failed to get a deal across the line for Nicolo Zaniolo this summer and lost a number 10 in Dele Alli in January. On paper, all these factors are leading up to seeing Devine get a couple of games under his belt this season.

Hopefully, that turns out to be the case. He played as a centre-forward in the opening two Premier League 2 games this season but has missed the last three games due to a hamstring injury.
