Arsenal to have four players return from injury for Tottenham derby including Zinchenko and Odegaard

According to Football.London, Arsenal could see four players return to their matchday squad for the north London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on October 1 at the end of the current international break.

Two of the most important names on the list would be that of captain Martin Odegaard and left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Ukraine international’s quality is undeniable, which is why the Gunners brought him to the Emirates from Manchester City this summer.

Odegaard was announced as Arsenal’s new captain earlier this season despite being just 23 years old. The former Real Madrid man is a potent presence in the number 10 role for Arsenal and one for our defenders to watch out for.

Apart from Zinchenko, who is expected to recover from his calf injury by the time the Gunners host Spurs at the Emirates, manager Mikel Arteta also has Scottish full-back, Kieran Tierney, at his disposal.

Boost for Arsenal

Additionally, Goal (h/t Football.London) claim that winger Reiss Nelson could return from his thigh injury to be in the squad against the Lilywhites. He was last named on Arsenal’s bench for their opening day 2-0 Premier League win against Crystal Palace last month.

Right-back Cedric Soares could also return to the line-up. The former Southampton defender, however, would do well to beat Takehiro Tomiyasu to the right-back position in the starting XI.

All four of the aforementioned names were missing from the team when Arsenal beat Brentford away from home by a 3-0 margin in their last game before the international break. It isn’t a bad thing that Arsenal would be close to full strength come derby day.

That way, there won’t be any room for an excuse from their fans if Antonio Conte’s Spurs get the better of them. Spurs are third in the PL table, level on points but trailing Manchester City on goal difference.
