Arsenal star Thomas Partey is a doubt for North London Derby vs Tottenham Hotspur

The international break is set to be over with Premier League action about to commence again on the weekend. One of the most anticipated fixtures of the weekend would be the North London Derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspurs on Saturday.

Both teams have started the season in brilliant form with Arsenal top of the league with 18 points while Spurs is in the third position with 17 points.

A victory over arch-rivals Arsenal would put us in the top two and hopefully, if results in the Manchester derby also go our way, we can be top of the league come the end of the weekend.

In additional good news ahead of the fixtures for us, The Mirror claims that Arsenal have suffered an injury scare ahead of the North London Derby. Arsenal’s midfield anchor Thomas Party withdrew thirty minutes into his nation Ghana’s side fixture against Brazil and is a doubt for the clash against Spurs.

Since arriving in a £52.5million deal from Atletico Madrid in 2020, it took time for the midfielder to settle into Mikel Arteta’s vision and struggled in his first year. However, he adapted really well to the intensity of the league and is a key cog in the way Arteta wants his team to play.

Hence, a potential injury to Partey would make Arsenal considerably weaker and hand us a wonderful advantage for the derby. Mohammad Elneny and Albert Sambi Lokonga are the players who are likely to replace Partey if he is injured and although both offer good qualities on the ball, they are not on the same level as the former Atletico man.

With our first team squad fit and looking sharp, there are no clear favourites heading into the North London Derby but for the first time in a long time, there is subtle confidence within the team and supporters in approaching the game.

Hopefully, the confidence shown in the team leads to a good performance and we get the desired result on the weekend.

Partey or not, Arsenal would give it their all and hence, we can’t afford to take them lightly either way.
