Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante prefers to join Tottenham over PSG after contract expiry in 2023
Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante is apparently open to joining Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal instead of a move to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) when his contract expires in the summer of 2023, as per FootMercato (h/t Express).
The 31-year-old has won virtually every major trophy with Chelsea since joining them from Leicester City in the summer of 2016. He has been an incredible servant to the club but at his age, may not be able to get another long-term contract with the Blues.
It is believed that Chelsea see him as expendable and are open to letting him leave next summer, citing his injury record as a reason behind it. If that turns out to be the case, then Kante would prefer to stay in London.
PSG are also interested in the former SM Caen midfielder but the Gunners and the Lilywhites could have an advantage should they seriously pursue a move for him. His engine and workrate in the middle of the park aren’t up for debate.
Spurs should take a calculated decision
He has, however, had his fair share of injuries with the Blues in recent seasons. Any Chelsea fan will tell you he has been picking up fitness issues far too often for their liking.
Manager Antonio Conte had Kante at his disposal during his short stay at Stamford Bridge. The Italian manager would have an idea about what he brings to the table.
However, Spurs would be wise to assess the situation from all angles instead of just throwing money at a big-name player. His wages, fitness record, and longevity should all be factors that we consider before thinking about making any potential offers.

If Kante stays fit there is no reason why he can’t be an asset at Spurs. Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are Conte’s trusted men in midfield and the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner can then add depth in that position – competing with the duo for regular minutes if he does join us.
