Chris Sutton backs Brighton to get a point from Tottenham Hotspur game

Speaking in an interview with BBC Sport, former Celtic and Blackburn Rovers forward Chris Sutton has shared his scoreline prediction ahead of Tottenham’s clash with Roberto de Zerbi’s side in the Premier League today.

Sutton thinks that this game will be much closer than assumed to be and has gone on to claim that he expects the Seagulls to take at least one point from the game, going for a 1-1 draw that doesn’t sound favourable to Spurs.

Spurs went into last weekend unbeaten in the Premier League but suffered a 1-3 annihilation at the hands of their North London rivals Arsenal. The Lilywhites also drew goalless against Eintracht Frankfurt midweek in the Champions League.

This makes the game against Brighton all the more important since Antonio Conte’s men will want to return to winning ways. They will not want all the early promise they showed this campaign not to amount to anything.

Speaking about the game, Sutton said that Brighton are a very dangerous team but the way they play might suit Spurs.

“This is a hard one because of how well Brighton are playing – tricky Leandro Trossard got a treble at Anfield, and Roberto de Zerbi made a mark and showed he is a front-foot coach in his first game in charge.”

“Tottenham have not really got going yet this season, in terms of playing as well as we know they can do, but the way the Seagulls are likely to play might suit Spurs”

The performance against Mikel Arteta’s men was arguably Spurs’ worst performance yet this campaign and the only way to recover from that will be to put in a solid display against the high-flying Seagulls.

Brighton have shown this season that they mean business. Initially under Graham Potter and now under Zerbi, the Seagulls have already managed to beat Manchester United and get a point off Liverpool.

Spurs on the other hand have been a mixed bag. They have had some solid performances like beating a struggling Leicester City 6-2 but they really need to pick up their game against Brighton.

It’s an interesting match that awaits us tonight. It remains to be seen if Sutton’s prediction comes through or if Spurs managed to get the better of Zerbi’s side today. A point, in all honesty, will do no us no good if we aim to catch Arsenal and Manchester City after our demoralising loss in the north London derby.
