Everton to be without Yerry Mina for Tottenham Hotspur clash due to injury

Everton manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Yerry Mina will not return from his injury to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League in north London on Saturday (October 15).

The Colombia international stands 1.95m tall which automatically makes him a notable presence on set pieces at both ends of the pitch. He has been absent since the opening day of the Premier League.

Mina picked up an injury in the 1-0 loss to Chelsea back in August and was subbed off in the 70th minute. That was the last time he took to the field for the Toffees.

Lampard has now claimed that the former Barcelona centre-back has suffered a setback – ‘a small calf injury’ – and will miss the game against Tottenham as a result. He said at his pre-match press conference (h/t Evening Standard):

“Yerry has had a little bit of a setback this week and so won’t be available.”

Anthony Gordon also picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in his team’s 2-1 loss against Manchester United on Sunday (October 9). As a result, he will play no part in the game this weekend.

It is expected that the former Chelsea manager will continue with the pairing of James Tarkowski and Conor Coady at the back. The Toffees have 10 points from nine league games so far.

Spurs, on the other hand, have 20 and are third in the table. If we aim to catch Manchester City and Arsenal over the course of the season, drawing or losing against ‘mid-table’ teams such as Everton is not really an option.
