Pundit Garth Cook was left ‘surprised’ by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg moment during Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 win over Everton last weekend.

Cook picked the Spurs midfielder in his BBC Team of the Week and explained the reasons for his inclusion and the surprising moment from the 27-year-old.

“Hojbjerg on the other hand showed the control and composure, not always associated with the Denmark international, to seal the points for Spurs in a 2-0 win. I don’t know why I was so surprised, Hojbjerg has been a brilliant addition to the team and quietly consistent for some considerable time.”

Harry Kane gave his side the lead against the Toffees in the 59th minute from the penalty spot. While Spurs dominated the game throughout, Hojbjerg sealed the three points with a very calm and composed finish inside the box to make it 2-0 in the 86th minute.

This was his third goal in 10 league games so far. The Danish international has been simply exceptional for Antonio Conte’s side in the midfield this season.

Along with Rodrigo Bentancur, the duo has established themselves as one of the best in the middle of the park. The 27-year-old was also instrumental and provided an assist in his side’s 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt last week in the Champions League.

The Dane is more than likely to start the game against Manchester United later today. Fans will hope that the 27-year-old dominates the midfield and hopefully gets on the scoresheet again.
