Opponent Watch: Newcastle United to be without Alexander Isak and Allan Saint-Maximin against Tottenham Hotspur
Newcastle United could be without Alexander Isak and Allan Saint-Maximin against Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday.
The duo are set to miss the Magpies’ game against Everton this Wednesday (h/t Liverpool Echo). And while Isak is sure to miss, Saint-Maximin is also looking very likely to follow suit.
Such news will come as a major boost to Antonio Conte and Spurs. But they have a task at hand before that as they take on Manchester United this Wednesday.
Eddie Howe on Alexander Isak:
— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) October 18, 2022
"We don't think we'll see Alex back before the World Cup. Unfortunately he's had a setback on his thigh. It's been very frustrating for him as a new player in a new league. I thought he was acclimatising well and picked up the injury with Sweden." pic.twitter.com/NE7jXTy3sM
Isak was signed for £60 million by the Magpies this summer. The striker got off to a good start, scoring two goals in three games for his new side.
However, a hamstring injury has forced him to the sidelines and he is now likely to return after the World Cup next month. As for Saint-Maximin, the Frenchman has minor irritations to his hamstring injury and will miss the game against Everton.
The 25-year-old is known to be a nuisance on the wings and his potentially missing the game against Spurs will be good news for us.
Eddie Howe’s side have been in good form this season. The Magpies are unbeaten in their last five games in the league and sit fifth on the table, eight points behind us.

As for Spurs, fans will hope for a win this Wednesday and then on Sunday. Both United and Newcastle are tricky opponents to play against, and wins against both of them will help Conte in the long run.
