Journo reveals the ambitious Liverpool and Manchester City promise Tottenham Hotspur made to summer signings

Tottenham Hotspur sees itself as a club that should be challenging Liverpool and Manchester City for the domestic titles – that is not up for debate.

Daniel Levy is ambitious. Fabio Paratici was a serial winner during his time at Juventus, while manager Antonio Conte is one of the best in the business – someone used to success, be it during his time at Juve, Chelsea, or Inter Milan.

Now, Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, Spurs told potential summer signings earlier this year that they see themselves usurping the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool in the near future.

Liverpool are seemingly in a downfall – be it due to their injuries or due to their tactics being found out by the opposition. They sit seventh in the table with 16 points from 11 games and have looked pale and bland.

So have we, but against the big six teams. Otherwise, Conte has assembled a team that has been able to take apart ‘lesser opposition’ in the league.

The next step would be to coach this into being one of the best in England. Changing the mentality and feeling around a club that hasn’t won a trophy since 2008 isn’t an easy or quick process.

It’s something that takes time. Those who follow Conte’s interviews this season would know that the former Inter boss realises that.

Tottenham made several signings this summer – Richarlison, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma, and Clement Lenglet (loan) were among several players to enter our books.

The current crop of players is good but it will take more world-class additions over time if we want to establish a domestic dynasty like Man City or develop a European pedigree like that of Liverpool.
