Liverpool join PSG and Real Madrid in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min
Liverpool are the latest entrants in the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-min, as per CaughtOffside (h/t Daily Star).
The South Korea international, according to Sport1 (h/t Daily Star), is contemplating his future at Spurs and could be enticed by a change of scenery. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in Son.
However, Liverpool’s inclusion would be another headache for Spurs if they want to keep hold of Son. The Reds have been among the trophies with Jurgen Klopp as their manager and are currently better placed to compete in several competitions.
Spurs may lead them in the table but Klopp’s recent history of making several high-profile finals and coming close to winning the Premier League twice (he already won the title in 2020) are all factors that could make a player trust in their project.
Tottenham’s Son to Liverpool?
Tottenham are by no means a small club. We are rightfully one of the ‘big six’ and are in contention to finish top four again.
Spurs are also the group leaders in the Champions League and need a point against Olympique de Marseille to qualify for the knockout rounds. Hence, under manager Antonio Conte, Tottenham can achieve great things and help Son play on the biggest stage in club football.
It remains to be seen if he is enticed by any of the potential suitors named above. Liverpool also give him the opportunity to change teams and still stay within England instead of having to uproot his life once again.
Son is a versatile forward – something that manager Jurgen Klopp has preferred to have at Liverpool. He is effective down the flanks as well as at centre-forward.
