Spurs News: Tottenham Hotspur prepare new contract for midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Tottenham Hotspur are prepared to offer a new contract to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after his impressive form this season, as per the Times (Subscription Required).

The Denmark international has been a regular fixture under every Spurs manager ever since he joined the club from Southampton in the summer of 2020. Hojbjerg is crucial to our midfield and clearly one of the first names on the team sheet.

He currently earns around £100,000 a week at N17 and it won’t be a surprise if Tottenham plan on raising that number. Hojbjerg, as expected, has been one of manager Antonio Conte’s trusted players this term.

He has added goals to his game and has scored thrice in 16 games across competitions for Tottenham. His current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025 (Transfermarkt).

Hojbjerg set for new Spurs contract

This will also help Spurs gain an upper hand in the future if other clubs show an interest in Hojbjerg, who is arguably in the prime years of his career. It won’t be a surprise if they do.

The former Bayern Munich star has a wonderful fitness record at Tottenham, is a very dependable defensive midfielder, and has several years ahead of him as a footballer.

Real Madrid allegedly showed an interest in Hojbjerg earlier in the summer. That in itself shows the waves that the Dane has made under managers like Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and now, Conte.

This was about time as well. He deserves a new deal because his importance to our team is arguably as much as Harry Kane or Son Heung-min. Since he isn’t amongst the goals each week, fans can sometimes undervalue what he really brings to our side.
