Antonio Conte tells Tottenham Hotspur players what to do in the crucial game against Marseille
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Antonio Conte has told his players what to do during their crucial game against Marseille this Tuesday.
Spurs head into the final group-stage game of their Champions League campaign needing a draw to secure qualification to the Round of 16.
Conte’s side would have already qualified had VAR not ruled out Harry Kane’s last-minute winner during their 1-1 draw against Sporting Lisbon last weekend.

Kane thought he had won the game for his side and secured the three points needed to qualify for the next round, but a late VAR check by the referee ruled the goal to be offside. Conte also saw a red card for his outburst against the decision and will be in the stands this Tuesday.
Now, the Italian has told his players what to do in the crucial tie next week. Speaking after his side’s 3-2 win over Bournemouth last Saturday, the gaffer explained what he expects his players to do. (h/t The Athletic [subscription required])
“This game will be a final for us to go to the next round of the Champions League. I don’t want to think which would be my mood if we lose this game. I have to be honest and also after the first half my feeling was positive. The only situation that I ask of my players is that we are to show more personality and take more responsibility because this game was on us.”
His side did show personality when they came back from being 2-0 down at half-time to win the game after scoring three in the second half against the Cherries. Rodrigo Bentancur scored the winner in injury time with Ryan Sessegnon scoring the first and Ben Davies drawing them level.
Spurs should go into the game with confidence as they did win the reverse fixture 2-0 at home against the French side, earlier this month. If anything, fans will hope for a similar result if not a better one.
