Tottenham star Son Heung-Min to undergo surgery after suffering four separate fractures to his eye socket

Tottenham Hotspur superstar Son Heung-Min has suffered four separate fractures to his eye socket and has seen his surgery being pushed a day forward in a bid to try and get him fit for the World Cup in Qatar, according to the Telegraph.

Son, who is one of Tottenham’s most important players, suffered an injury after he collided with Olympique Marseille defender Chancel Mbemba. The attacker was visibly unsteady on his feet and had to walk off with assistance.

It was a huge blow both to the player and the South Korean national team whose performances in the showpiece event in Qatar completely depends on the performances of their talismanic captain.

Son is now in a race against time to get fit for the World Cup. There is no guarantee that he would be available for South Korea but right now, all that the player and the team can do is hope for the best.

Everything is being done to help Son in his bid to go to the World Cup. His surgery, which was scheduled to happen over the weekend, has been brought forward to today so as to facilitate his recovery by at least one day.

Son, who was surprisingly well enough to join the team in celebrations after the sensational win against Marseille can take inspiration from Manchester City superstar Kevin de Bruyne to recover in time.

The Belgian international suffered a similar injury against Chelsea in the Champions League final in the season before last but underwent minor surgery and was back for Belgium in the Euros just a few weeks later.

If everything goes well with regards to the surgery and the recovery, then there is a chance that Son will be available for South Korea in Qatar but right now, it’s time to recoup for the Tottenham forward.

Spurs will miss him most likely for the next three matches but with the bigger picture in mind, let’s hope Son gets to represent his country in Qatar and he deserves to do just that.
