Tottenham Hotspur star Ivan Perisic in Croatia’s 26-man FIFA World Cup squad
To no one’s surprise, 33-year-old Tottenham Hotspur winger Ivan Perisic has been named in Croatia’s 26-man squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Croatia international joined us this summer on a free transfer from Inter Milan. He has been a revelation ever since, making our left flank an outlet of great threat under manager Antonio Conte.
The two worked together at Inter Milan and know each other well from their time at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. The full list confirmed by manager Zlatko Dalic can be viewed below:
Former Spurs midfielder Luka Modric has also been named in the team. Tottenham had an intimate relationship with that part of the world a little over a decade ago, with players like Niko Kranjcar, Modric, and Vedran Corluka donning our famous white shirt.
Perisic goes to another World Cup
Perisic is one of the elder statesmen for the Croats in this year’s World Cup and is expected to retain his position down the left flank for his country, especially after the shock exclusion of AC Milan’s Ante Rebic.
He has 32 goals for his country in 115 games. This is the third consecutive World Cup that the winger will be representing Croatia.
He played a massive role in his nation’s heroic run to the 2018 FIFA World Cup final in Russia, where he scored in the final against France. The French, however, won the game 4-2.
