Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for PSV striker Cody Gakpo
Tottenham Hotspur could make an offer to sign PSV Eindhoven attacker Cody Gakpo in the near future, as per GiveMeSport (h/t Football.London).
Spurs could use an additional attacker if the first half of this season was anything to go by. We signed Ricahrlison but Steven Bergwijn’s departure to Ajax meant that we didn’t really add to the depth on paper – even though Richy has been sensational for us.
Injuries to Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Son Heung-min, and Lucas Moura at various points of the campaign have left us short-handed up front on many occasions. Gakpo is a versatile forward who can play in multiple positions.
He is adept as a winger but has been amongst the goals in recent seasons down the middle as a centre-forward. The Netherlands international has netted 13 times and provided 17 assists in 24 games across competitions this season.
Gakpo to Spurs?
Such numbers don’t necessarily mean he can replicate it here in England, but it does show that he knows how to create chances and finish them off. Just 23, he has a long time to go in his career as well.
He could be a smart investment for the present as well as the future. He notably came close to joining Manchester United this summer and admitted to having conversations with manager Erik ten Hag over a potential move to Old Trafford.
Spurs, hence would have to be aware of the Red Devils potentially reigniting their interest in the forward. Nevertheless, this is a move we should be all over if a forward is what we are
