Newcastle United tipped to sign Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.

Ghana manager reveals influence on Tottenham Hotspur star Son Heung-Min’s career

Speaking in an interview ahead of Ghana’s World Cup game against South Korea as quoted by Mirror, Ghana manager Otto Addo revealed the influence that he had on the career of Tottenham Hotspur winger Son Heung-Min when he was playing for Hamburg.

Otto Addo, who is the coach of Ghana, was in charge of the academy of the German club and fast-tracked the impressive South Korean to the first team and years later, he will be feeling vindicated.

The 30-year-old’s career has taken a very interesting course ever since, with Son joining Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. The South Korean caught the attention of the Spurs with his performances there and the rest is history.

Son joined Tottenham from Leverkusen in 2015 and has since then gone on to establish himself as a superstar in attack, forming a very formidable partnership alongside English superstar Harry Kane.

Son is right now on international duty with his national team. They are set to take on Ghana in the World Cup today with the Tottenham man obviously expected to make an impact South Korea tries to build on the draw against Uruguay.

Speaking about a player he pushed to prominence and who will be coming up against his team today, here is what Addo said.

“You can’t expect too much from youth players, but I saw something in him. I pushed him towards our first-team squad at Hamburg and he’s had a great career. We’re trying to stop him as a team, closing gaps, picking up runs and sensing danger – that will be key.”

Ghana played an impressive game against Portugal but failed to secure the three points despite having a glorious chance right at the death. It remains to be seen if they step up against the Asian side.

As much as he would feel proud of what Son Heung-Min has done in his career and the credit he shares in it, the Ghana manager will be hoping that the Tottenham winger has a quiet game by his lofty standards.

He has truly become one of the world’s best wingers and rarely is it ever down to just a couple of people. It takes a number of individuals, hard work, and perhaps even some luck to build a career such as this.
