Tottenham Hotspur star Rodrigo Bentancur substituted off injured during Uruguay vs Ghana
In what will come as horrific news to Antonio Conte and Tottenham Hotspur fans, star midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur was substituted off due to injury during Uruguay vs Ghana game.
Uruguay won the game 2-0 but both the teams failed to qualify for the knockout round after Son Heung-min’s South Korea beat Portugal 2-1 in stoppage time to qualify on goal difference.
Bentancur started the game for his side but was taken off during the 34th minute for Matias Vecino. This has sparked fears over a potential injury to Spurs’ star midfielder. (h/t Football.London)
While the extent of his injury is not known, fans and Conte will hope it is nothing serious. The 25-year-old has been nothing short of phenomenal for us this season.
The midfielder has played in 21 games this season in all competitions, scoring five goals in the process. He has only missed one game, a 1-1 draw against West Ham United in August so far this season.
He has been excellent going forward, while simultaneously being present in the midfield-making him one of our best players so far this season. In the World Cup too, he played in all three games for his side and was one of their best players.
The only thing positive here is the time of his injury. If it is nothing serious, the 25-year-old will have a good time in hand to make a recovery and return to action as soon as the second half of the season starts.
Fans will hope that it is nothing serious as the player is very important to us. It remains to be seen if the midfielder is fit enough to
