Tottenham Hotspur have held no discussions yet with LOSC Lille for the transfer of Jonathan David
LOSC Lille are yet to have received any indication from Tottenham Hotspur that the North London side want to sign Jonathan David. Spurs have held no discussions yet for the Canada international with the Ligue 1 side.
Antonio Conte’s team have been linked with the 22-year-old’s signature. However, it seems a deal is currently not close to being done to add another striker to the Italian manager’s arsenal.
Speaking to CaughtOffisde (h/t football.london), transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed that Tottenham have not started any conversations for David as of now. The Italian revealed Spurs had asked about the Canadian a year back.
“At the moment there are no conversations or contacts between Spurs and Lille or Jonathan David’s agents. Tottenham were informed on David one year ago but it’s still quiet now.
“I think he’d be a great solution for many clubs, including Tottenham; he’s a very good striker.”
The 22-year-old signed for Lille in the summer of 2020. Since then, the striker has done well in France. He has improved his goal-scoring abilities over the years as well.
In the current campaign, David has made 15 appearances for Les Dogues in Ligue 1. The Canadian has found the back of the net nine times and has set up three goals for his teammates.
The 22-year-old also featured for John Herdman’s team at the World Cup in Qatar. Unfortunately, Canada crashed out from the group stages of the prestigious competition. The Lille striker played a part in every fixture for the North American team.
Tottenham currently has an abundance of talent up front. Harry Kane has been Spurs’ talisman for several years now. Conte can also call upon Son Heung-min, although the South Korean has not been at his best this season.
Dejan Kulusevksi is also an option for the Italian manager in his ranks. Also, Richarlison signed for the North London side in the recent transfer window and has been impressive for Brazil at the World Cup.
