Tottenham Hotspur make another FIFA World Cup gaffe after England’s loss vs France
Tottenham Hotspur were left red-faced once again in a matter of a week with regard to making an embarrassing 2022 FIFA World Cup mistake after England’s loss against France.
Firstly, Spurs’ official Twitter account posted a photo of Richarlison in a Brazil kit and captioned it “Richarlison is into the World Cup semi-finals!” after Dominik Livakovic celebrated with his Croatia teammates following Marquinhos’ penalty miss.
The tweet was, of course, quickly deleted (h/t Mirror), but it was just an odd error to see from such a big establishment. It isn’t a big deal if the tweets come out a minute or two late but Spurs have to avoid another embarrassment like this.
To follow it up, a Spurs fan on Twitter shared a photo of an E-Mail he received from Tottenham Hotspur’s E-Mail address which read “England are through to the semi-finals! Book a private screening at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium” (h/t the Express).
Spurs players headed for World Cup glory
The message apparently came early morning on Sunday, several hours after England’s elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup was confirmed. They lost 2-1 to France in the quarter-finals, with Harry Kane missing a key penalty kick.
He dispatched a penalty kick in the 54th minute but couldn’t replicate that feat half an hour later. Hugo Lloris and Cristian Romero are the only ones left out of the Tottenham Hotspur players that took part in the competition in Qatar.
Romero’s Argentina take on Croatia in the semi-final while Lloris will lead France out in their semi-final clash against Morocco. If one goes by the strength of the teams on paper, then a final between Romero and Lloris is likely.

Hopefully, the club doesn’t make any more embarrassing mistakes again and get into the headlines for the wrong reasons. If even one of Argentina and France win in the semi-finals, then a Tottenham player will win the World Cup in Qatar.
